“Factory workers had their greatest influence, and were able to exact their most substantial concessions from government, during the Great Depression, in the years before they were organized into unions. Their power during the Depression was not rooted in organization but in disruption.” (Emphasis miyiyine)
This excerpt is from the book shown above, which I found within an excerpt from Howard Zinn’s book, “A People’s History of the United States.” This little bit, this idea, caught my eye and it asked that it be delivered to you, via Substack… Something to chew on!
And I’ve just ordered the book, by Piven and Cloward, from Thriftbooks.com, where a pooge may find new and used books for oft-times very reasonable prices, and usually in very good shape, too (the used ones). I’m going to read it, at least once, maybe twice, before I render it utterly “digested”…
ALSO … Another tidbit to throw in: I came across a business card that was in a pile of stuff, and I was using it as a bookmark, and then suddenly I noticed what it said… I lived in California for about 20 years, and I remember when the State of CA decided to mandate vaccination for school children… in 2015. Here’s what is on the card, which wanted this undone, and I quote:
“SB277 Referendum…
PROTECTING RELIGIOUS AND PARENTAL RIGHTS
Where There Is Risk, There Must Be Choice
We believe parents & doctors are better qualified than politicians to make medical decisions for our children. SB277 violates children’s and parental rights, religions freedoms, civil rights, humans rights and the Nuremberg Code requiring informed consent.”
I remember how the people who didn’t want this Referendum were basically shouted down by angry, irrational people… Hmmmm. And I remember thinking I was glad I didn’t have any little kids in school. Do you think the Bad Guys learned from this, maybe? Did they learn it’s better to bribe doctors and terrorize parents?
hmm i seem to remember reading about the depression some years back. what i recall is it being about buying up all the industry on the cheap. wipe out the competition on wall st, then buy everything. i think we are at version 2 now
"Did they learn it’s better to bribe doctors and terrorize parents?"
Excellent!
